Performance and professional standards panel
Jurisdiction: Queensland Date of Decision: 20 April 2021
Clinical Care - Inadequate or inappropriate treatment; Pharmacy/Medication - Inappropriate, unlawful or inaccurate prescribing
The Board referred allegations that the Practitioner inadequately assessed, managed and/or treated a patients condition and inappropriately prescribed medications. The Panel found that the Practitioner's clinical management of the patient, including his treatment, prescribing practices and clinical record keeping were below the standard expected of a registered medical practitioner. Specifically, having found almost all the allegations proved, the Panel determined that the Practitioner’s performance amounted to unsatisfactory professional performance and the Panel decided to reprimand him.
At the time of its decision, the Panel noted that the Practitioner was not registered as a medical practitioner. It made a recommendation to the Board that conditions be imposed on his registration in the event he is reinstated to the Register of Medical Practitioners in the future.
