Performance and professional standards panel
Jurisdiction: Queensland Date of Decision: 16 March 2021
National Law Breach - Breach of condition
The Board referred allegations that the Practitioner failed to comply with conditions imposed on her registration. The contraventions included practising as a medical practitioner (prescribing medication for her mother) when she did not have an approved place of practice and/or related supervisor, failing to provide evidence of a hair sample for analysis for drug screening, failing to notify the Board of new prescriptions within the specified time frame, and failing to attend her treating psychologist at the frequency required by the psychologist
The Panel found that the Practitioner had behaved in a way that constituted unprofessional conduct. The Panel reprimanded the Practitioner. The Panel considered that the Practitioner demonstrated poor insight into the importance of complying with the conditions. In determining sanction, the Panel noted that the reprimand will ensure that the Practitioner appreciates the seriousness of her conduct and the need to ensure that she complies with her conditions at all times. The Panel confirmed that the Practitioner must ensure strict compliance with the existing conditions in the future, and noted that further instances of non-compliance may lead to further regulatory action, including (but not limited to) referral to Tribunal for professional misconduct.
