National Boards
The National Boards work to ensure safe, quality healthcare by practitioners across Australia working in 16 professions. Learn about their activities in 2023/24.
Accreditation
Accreditation helps ensure that people seeking registration are suitably trained, qualified and competent to practise as health practitioners.
Registration
Collaboration with stakeholders and continued streamlining of registration processes was a focus of our work in 2023/24.
Notifications
Hearing from individuals or organisations with concerns about health practitioners is an important way we identify issues with safety and professionalism among registered health professionals.
Compliance
Placing restrictions on a practitioner’s registration allows them to start or continue providing healthcare while keeping the public safe.
Legal action
Allegations of professional misconduct by practitioners are decided by independent panels and tribunals. We prosecute allegations of criminal offences under the National Law.
Improving health practice
We collaborate across professions and with other organisations to make sure that our standards, codes and guidelines are supported by strong evidence.
Organisation
Reporting on our leadership, risk and assurance management, freedom of information requests and administrative complaints.
Finance
Reporting on the financial management of Ahpra and the National Boards.
