New Agency Management Committee members welcomed

27 Jun 2017

AHPRA is pleased to welcome Agency Management Committee appointments and reappointments announced by the Australian Health Workforce Ministerial Council.

Two new members have been appointed:

  • Dr Susan Young, bringing expertise in health, education, training, governance, regulation and accreditation, and
  • Ms Philippa Smith AM, whose expertise in business, administration, regulation and accreditation.

Two existing members, Ms Barbara Yeoh AM and Ms Jenny Taing, have been re-appointed for new three year terms.

The appointments arose because of the scheduled expiry of Professor Merrilyn Walton AM and Mr David Taylor’s terms. Appointment terms are made in accordance with the National Law1.

Agency Management Committee Chair, Mr Michael Gorton AM, is thankful for the contribution of these individuals to the Agency Management Committee.

‘We are grateful to Professor Walton and Mr Taylor for their consistent and dedicated work as part of the Agency Management Committee.

‘I would like to extend a warm welcome to Dr Young and Ms Smith. We look forward to working with them to ensure an effective and efficient partnership between AHPRA and the National Boards to regulate Australia’s registered health practitioners and bring out the best of the National Scheme.’

More details about the appointments are published in the Australian Health Workforce Ministerial Council recent communique.
